Northern Thailand Night Market Package - 8 Days

Northern Thailand Night Market Packages – Thailand – 8 Days

Chiang Mai:  Wualai Walking Street
The Saturday night walking street is growing in popularity, and towards sunset tends to be the busiest time.  It’s still easy enough to walk along one side and then back along another, checking out all the different stalls.

Chiang Rai:  Night Bazaar
Covering four street blocks just southeast of the Clock Tower, Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is a nice diversion from Jet Yod Road’s bar-hopping scene.

Thailand Night Market Packages

Thai people love night markets, and they do so for a reason: it’s so hot during the day, that it is much more pleasant to do your shopping at night. For us foreigners, these night hubs are more than a place to shop for souvenirs. They’re communal places for entertainment, music, and good food — it’s Thailand after all!

Wualai Walking Street Saturday night market in Chiang Mai

Wualai, the Saturday walking street, is a lively and fun night market that takes place in Chiang Mai just a short walk from the old city walls. It starts in the late afternoon and continues until around 22:30. We prefer the atmosphere here to the more famous Sunday night walking street because even though it’s smaller, there aren’t the same crowds of people, so it makes for a much more leisurely stroll. Not only are there plenty of handicraft items and locally-made products, but it’s also a good place to pick up some tasty snacks to provide sustenance as you wander around. Wualai Road links to Thipanet Road, near the south side of the old city walls, and around a ten to fifteen-minute walk from Tha Pae Gate. It’s very easy to get dropped off by a tuk-tuk or public van (songtaew) near the far end.

Chiang Rai Night Bazaar

Open daily from 6:00 P.M to 11:00 P.M regardless of the weather.
Located near the Chiang Rai Bus Terminal 1, off Phaholyothin Road.

We found the Night Bazaar to be more touristy than the weekend markets. Not by the amount of tourist walking around, but for the type of products being sold — the same overpriced knick-knacks repeated on every stall. Although touristy, vendors were never pushy though.
